The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square enjoy a longstanding tradition of performing inspirational music from the movies and the Broadway stage. And so much of the power in these cinematic stories-the power to inspire, to build faith, and bring us closer to the divine-is conveyed through music. They tell us through diverse narratives the same venerable tales that have shaped our identities for centuries stories of triumph, failure, love, adventure, good and evil, mastering ourselves, helping others.
They teach us in visual and verbal parables about the challenges we face together. But movies can do so much more than merely entertain and amuse. It’s a treasured pastime, a delightful amusement. A night at the movies is a chance to sit back, relax with family and friends, and be entertained.
